Psssst. Guess what? We’re now engaged!
We look forward to seeing how Recspec will grow and evolve with us on this crazy journey of life, and are happy to share the adventures we have had and will have with you all. Thank you for all of the support from our friends and family — Recspec phase marriage: commence! (Well, not right away, but you get the idea.)
Xoxo,
Lau + Dave (Recspec)

Working on a recent (big) project, I took to the clearance section of our local book store to find some books to sacrifice to the art gods. While rummaging, I found these hardcover beauties in the dollar pile and was struck by how simply beautiful they were, the gold imprints, the patterns, everything. The Stars book is Dave’s own from growing up as a child — and I also love the old style of design used on it as well. Old books are just the best, aren’t they? I especially love the way they smell.

We’ve been awfully silent lately, but there’s a reason for that — we’ve undertaken one of our biggest projects yet — the opening of a restaurant! We’ve teamed up with our good friends at ND Austin (whom we have designed logos, websites, and other goodness for) to create Tamale Molly, a new eatery that will be serving food into the new smaller bar attached to ND, The North Door!

Here’s a poster we’ve created for our big Grand Opening party happening on Wednesday August 31st, so if you’re in the Austin area, please do come by! It’ll be free, have lots of surprises, and really really fun.
Naturally, we are also designing all of the collateral for our brand, opting for a vintage Mexican pin-up feel, but also bringing in the bright CMYK colours to balance the black and white out. Follow us on Facebook and Twitter for updates, and check out our menu on our website:Tamalemollyatx.com!
We’ll be posting a breakdown of all of the design elements for the brand soon, so keep an eye out and stay tuned.
